Conversations About Your Assessment (CYA) series with a focus on centering students in the assessment process. Estelle Khairallah and Brianna Rheaume, Doctor of Medicine candidates (Class of 2027) at the Norton College of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University, will present their work as student curriculum representatives during the implementation of a new curriculum launched in 2023–2024.As elected representatives of the first cohort under the revised curriculum, Estelle and Brianna designed and administered a student-led survey to assess learning experiences and educational outcomes. Their work aimed to amplify the student voice in curriculum evaluation and strengthen feedback mechanisms between students and institutional leadership.
Aligned with accreditation standards and institutional competencies, this student-developed instrument provides a replicable model for other programs seeking to move beyond institution-led surveys toward student-driven assessment. This approach reframes program evaluation as a collaborative process, centering student priorities while maintaining alignment with accreditation and continuous improvement goals.
